"Two days of solid close reaching or beating right in to the centre of this stormy Low pressure system. Rain squall after rain squall. Unbelievable, but relatively relaxing sailing with the gennaker out on the bowsprit, and apart from the 35 knot rain storms, a stable direction. This is where sailing a Mini gets very uncomfortable, and exceedingly wet. Wet wet wet.

Every wave becomes a very personal experience. Full Frontal wave every 10. No chance of falling asleep at the helm now. But now I push really hard, and manage to extend the lead on the guys behind who were catching up whilst I had my down time without the spinnaker (and without my head!). 12 hours on the helm solidly trying to squeeze some extra pace out of the boat."
