The Mainsail

... has a very large roach and is huge in area: 30.5 sqm for such a little boat. The Mini-Transat rule only permits Polyester & Nylon as sail material, so the mainsail is cut in high quality Dacron. The radial clew and head add some stability to the sail.

The design of the main is slightly flatter than normally, as power can be readily added by easing the loose foot and tightening the vang. The roach is supported by 5 full length battens. Note the short lower spreaders that allow the #1 genoa to be sheeted between the inner and outer bottom verticals.
