Twin Rudders

All minis are equipped with twin rudders for better control off the wind. With the boat heeling the windward rudder is lifted almost completely out of the water.

"Technically challenging this one! I even put my harness on this time as I sit on the foredeck halyard in hand. Just before I try to get it down the sheet snaps. All hell is let loose. Wild flapping and I get whipped by the lazy sheet which is still connected.

I burn the halyard off and grab a corner of the gennaker, and spend 20 minutes fighting this beast. When you look back, see no-one, see nothing but white water, there is a small little thought that passes your mind, not for long, but that this is actually pretty damn dangerous!
